Goodgesic

Categories: Injection

Description:

Gudgesic Aqua is an aqueous injectable formulation of diclofenac, administered for rapid pain relief when oral medications are not feasible or when faster onset is needed. It is typically given in a clinical or hospital setting for acute pain management. This injection provides quick absorption and is suitable for short-term use to avoid potential NSAID-related complications like gastrointestinal or cardiovascular risks. It is not intended for self-administration and should only be used under medical supervision.

Active Salt (Composition):

  • Diclofenac Sodium (75 mg per 1 ml ampoule)

Gudgesic Aqua is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) injection. Diclofenac works by inhibiting the enzymes cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2), which reduces the production of prostaglandins—chemicals in the body that cause pain, inflammation, and fever.

Uses and Benefits:

Gudgesic Aqua is prescribed for acute pain and inflammatory conditions, offering fast-acting relief. Key uses and benefits include:

  1. Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis:
  • Use: Manages flare-ups of joint pain, stiffness, and swelling in these autoimmune or degenerative joint diseases.
  • Benefits: Quickly reduces inflammation and pain, improving joint mobility and daily function without the delay of oral forms.
  1. Ankylosing Spondylitis:
  • Use: Relieves spinal pain and stiffness associated with this inflammatory spine condition.
  • Benefits: Eases chronic discomfort, enhances posture and movement, and supports better sleep and quality of life.
  1. Acute Back Pain, Neck Pain, or Musculoskeletal Injuries:
  • Use: Treats sudden pain from strains, sprains, trauma, fractures, or overuse.
  • Benefits: Provides immediate relief for severe episodes, allowing faster return to activities and reducing reliance on stronger opioids.
  1. Gout Attacks:
  • Use: Alleviates intense joint pain and swelling during uric acid crystal flares.
  • Benefits: Rapidly controls acute symptoms, shortening attack duration and preventing joint damage.
  1. Renal or Biliary Colic (Kidney/Gall Stones):
  • Use: Eases severe abdominal pain from stones obstructing urinary or bile ducts.
  • Benefits: Offers potent, targeted pain control in emergencies, bridging to other treatments like stone passage or removal.
  1. Post-Operative or Post-Trauma Pain:
  • Use: Controls pain following surgery, dental procedures, or injuries when oral intake is limited.
  • Benefits: Accelerates recovery by minimizing discomfort, reducing nausea from pain, and avoiding oral medication side effects.
  1. Other Acute Pain (e.g., Headaches, Menstrual Pain, Dental Pain):
  • Use: Addresses moderate to severe short-term pain unresponsive to milder analgesics.
  • Benefits: Delivers swift symptom relief, improving focus, sleep, and overall well-being during acute episodes.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Adults: Typically, 75 mg (1 ampoule) once daily, administered intramuscularly (deep into the buttock muscle), subcutaneously, or intravenously (as a slow bolus, not infusion). Maximum dose: 150 mg/day. Do not use for more than 2 days.
  • Children: Not recommended for children under 14 years unless prescribed; dosage is weight-based (1-2 mg/kg/day).
  • Administered only by a healthcare professional in a medical setting. Do not self-inject.
  • Duration: Short-term only (1-2 days) to minimize risks; switch to oral forms if possible.

Side Effects:

Common (usually mild and transient):

  • Nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, or injection site reactions (pain, swelling, redness).
  • Stomach pain, diarrhea, or indigestion.

Less common/rare side effects:

  • Drowsiness, flatulence, constipation, or rash.
  • Serious: Gastrointestinal bleeding/ulcers, kidney/liver dysfunction, high blood pressure, allergic reactions (e.g., hives, swelling, breathing difficulty—seek immediate help), or increased risk of heart attack/stroke with prolonged use.

Monitor for symptoms and consult your doctor if they worsen or persist.

Precautions and Warnings:

  • Allergies: Avoid if allergic to diclofenac, other NSAIDs (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen), or any component.
  • Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Not recommended, especially in the third trimester (risk of fetal harm like heart/lung issues); use only if benefits outweigh risks. Small amounts pass into breast milk—discuss with your doctor.
  • Other Conditions: Inform your doctor if you have heart disease, stroke history, high blood pressure, kidney/liver impairment, asthma, ulcers, bleeding disorders, diabetes, or are elderly (higher risk for complications). Not for use after heart bypass surgery.
  • Drug Interactions: May interact with blood thinners (e.g., warfarin—increased bleeding), diuretics, ACE inhibitors, lithium, methotrexate, or other NSAIDs—potentiating toxicity. Avoid alcohol to reduce stomach irritation and drowsiness.
  • Regular monitoring of kidney/liver function and blood pressure is advised for extended use. Stay hydrated and avoid if dehydrated.
