Amoxyrange CV 625mg

Categories: Tablet

This is a combination antibiotic belonging to the penicillin class, where amoxicillin acts as the primary antibacterial agent by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, and clavulanic acid enhances its effectiveness by preventing bacterial enzymes (beta-lactamases) from breaking it down.

Active Salts (Composition):

  • Amoxicillin (500 mg)
  • Clavulanic Acid (125 mg)

Description and Uses:

Amoxyrange CV 625 is an oral tablet used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in adults and children (typically those weighing over 40 kg). It is effective against susceptible bacteria and is commonly prescribed for:

  • Respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis).
  • Ear infections (e.g., otitis media).
  • Urinary tract infections (including complicated cases like pyelonephritis).
  • Skin and soft tissue infections (e.g., cellulitis, boils, infected wounds).
  • Dental infections, bone and joint infections, and other susceptible infections like gonorrhea or tonsillitis.

It works by stopping the growth and multiplication of bacteria, allowing the body's immune system to clear the infection. Note: This medicine is not effective against viral infections (e.g., common cold or flu) and should only be used as prescribed to avoid antibiotic resistance.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Take as directed by your doctor, typically 1 tablet every 8-12 hours (thrice daily for severe infections).
  • Swallow whole with water; best taken with a meal to minimize stomach upset.
  • Complete the full course (usually 5-14 days) even if symptoms improve to prevent relapse.
  • For children under 40 kg, dose is weight-based (e.g., 20-60 mg/kg/day of amoxicillin component, divided into 3 doses).
